Breedlove Land Planning provided master planning, schematic design, and construction drawings for this Gwinnett County Parks facility. Project elements include a natatorium, activity center, outdoor leisure pool, walking trails, parking, sports fields, and all the associated utility and stormwater infrastructure.
The design solution transformed an existing spring-fed pond into a larger functional lake that provides effective stormwater management, while enhancing the natural habitat. State Waters Buffer variance was successfully acquired the from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division to encroach into the buffers. With stewardship guiding design decisions, this encroachment resulted in an improved natural resource. Significant measures were also taken to protect an existing stand of mature white oak trees. This park exemplifies Breedlove Land Planning’s design philosophy towards responsible storm water and habitat management, with a public space that Gwinnett residents can be proud to enjoy.
