Breedlove Land Planning provided comprehensive design services for the Galloway School, an independent Atlanta preparatory school, to help transform an acquired abandoned landfill property along the banks of Nancy Creek into an athletic venue. As the lead designer on this project, Breedlove Land Planning secured and coordinated necessary consultant services, including architectural services.
The rehabilitation of this former organic landfill to support an athletic program for soccer, lacrosse, and track & field presented a myriad of unique civil engineering challenges. Staying in tune with Breedlove Land Planning’s promotion of sustainability, the protection of the ecologically significant Nancy Creek was a vital design component. Other constraints overcome in this challenging project included organic landfill stabilization to reduce or eliminate future settling, and other mitigation measures to safely address possible environmental concerns.
