Mt. Park Passive Park was one of the area’s first “Teen Parks” specifically designed and intended for use by children thirteen-years-old and older. The park is situated in the location of the former community swimming pool.
The ammenities of the park include a skate court, a sand volleyball court, a 6,000 square-foot play area with climbing boulders, a 36,000 square-foot lawn, and a pavillion with picnic tables. At the time of construction, the 8,300 square-foot skate court designed by an outside skate park consultant had the deepest, most aggressive “bowl” in the country.
During design, great care was taken to preserve a sound buffer between the park and the adjacent residential areas. Consideration was also given to the selection of resilient, vandal-proof materials. To minimize disturbance of the existing duck pond, impervious surfaces were balanced with pool area.
