Located in Conyers, Georgia, Legion Field is an active recreation park providing the Rockdale County community with sixteen baseball fields including the Miracle League “Field of Dreams”. Breedlove Land Planning completed construction documents to create a cohesive sense of space, as well as design a new parking lot to replace the existing, dilapidated lot.
Heavily eroded, sloped areas downstream of the site required creative solutions to stormwater management. Eight bio-retention cells were designed to remove pollutants and promote infiltration. During larger storms, the bio-retention cells convey excess flows to the lower levels of the parking lot, creating a series of exposed storm chambers. At the low point of the site the parking bays include a porous paving system for infiltration. This Breedlove Land Planning “green” parking lot design was honored with the 2004 ASLA Merit Award.
