Breedlove Land Planning provided civil engineering and site design services for the state-of-the-art middle school building project at Holy Innocents Episcopal School in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The scope of this project included the 41,000 square-foot building, as well as expansion to the amenity package for the adjacent baseball field.
The close proximity of the new middle school with the existing baseball field and other existing amenities presented unique challenges. Accommodating the stormwater management and pollution control systems in underground chambers, while coordinating with the new and existing site utilities, became a major design component. The design successfully resolved these spatial constraints while managing to enhance the hardscape with new patios, walkways, and sports field bleachers that integrated into the campus seamlessly. A priority was placed on enhancing vehicular and pedestrian access with particular focus on improving accessibility for disabled users of the athletics complex.
