Chamblee Middle School is one of the many Dekalb County public schools that Breedlove Land Planning has provided site design services for. Accommodating the program and associated facilities for a middle school of this size on ninteen acres presented a challenge in itself. Breedlove Land Planning’s site design accomplished this feat while maintaining the character of a neighborhood school. Perimeter sidewalks were designed and tree preservation areas were maintained to provide easy access for pedestrians while maintaining a natural vegetation buffer between land use types.
The design segregated the parent vehicular traffic from staff and bus lanes, which helped to eliminate congestion on the neighborhood roads. The school’s walking track, tennis court, and grass playfield have all been welcomed additions to the community. Breedlove Land Planning was an integral partner in communicating and coordinating with the surrounding community to make this project a success.
